Optimum works closely with clients to help them minimise their environmental impact through improved energy efficiency and safe use of refrigerants. We are accredited to the environmental standard ISO 14001, reflecting the high environmental standards we maintain for our own business, and registered with REFCOM, the independent body that ensures safe refrigerant management.
Environmental issues are now a major priority for any business and managing these issues helps to reduce costs as well as contributing to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or other environmental drivers.
Optimum is very conscious that building services make a major contribution to environmental impact and carbon footprint and recognises that effective plant maintenance is a key to minimising these effects .
An integral part of an Optimum maintenance contract is to advise clients on the potential for energy efficiency improvements in their existing plant, or when renewing or upgrading plant. We will also help clients to evaluate the potential for using renewable energy sources and make them aware of the practical implications of such a move.
We are also ideally placed to help clients respond to new and forthcoming legislation, such as the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, the F-gas regulations and the imminent ban on certain refrigerants under EC 2037/2000.
All Optimum employees receive environmental awareness training and our suppliers are fully assessed through our supplier application procedure, which encourages the use of ethical procurement standards.
