The majority of the refrigerant gases currently in common use have a global warming potential (GWP) many times that of CO2. For this reason, the European Union introduced the F-gas Regulations No 842/2006 on 4th July 2006 and this came into force in July 2007.
Its purpose is to contain leaks of refrigerants containing fluorine, which includes all HFC refrigerants and blends containing HFCs. These include R407C, R134a, R410A and R404A.
Under these regulations Optimum is required to carry out regular leak checks, take all reasonable measures to prevent leaks and maintain detailed records of refrigerant usage.
All Optimum staff involved in the maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration plant are fully qualified in refrigerant handling and are able to ensure full compliance with the F-gas Regulations.
